“Change is the only constant” is a phrase one has heard being used, time and again. Our upbringings, and the environment that we grow up in, have a large impact on shaping our characters. The way we are taught, trained or even conditioned impacts our thinking patterns. These patterns can make us either receptive or rigid to accepting change.
The reality is that change promotes growth. The change prevents one from getting stagnated. The stagnation often comes in the form of a comfort zone, which one finds hard to break. Becoming receptive to change can help better shape our attitudes making the process easier. (Source: Medline Plus)
There is an innate desire within us to assume control over our lives. This control when seems like it’s slipping away can be overwhelming and painful and can lead to resentment. Setting extremely high standards and not being able to live up to them is also another issue that may create a loss of control over one’s life. Being articulate is appreciated but being overly organized and rigid is not. In fact, it is detrimental to growth as an individual.
Change can be eased in, if not directly implemented. Changing a bad habit, improving a lacking skill, following a schedule, and cutting out toxicity are small ways in which one can help to shift from the stagnated ‘comfort’ zone!
